Service stage and responsibilities
The brief names feedstock geometry, resin, fillers, target granulate and whether the duty is a hard plastic crusher cut or light scrap. Manufacturers quote the rotor family they can actually build for that feed. Throughput is usable granulate under agreed test conditions, not a brochure kilogram-per-hour number tied only to motor kW. Working opening millimetres and hopper type belong on the same sheet as rotor size. PLC interface names are required only if jam or load signals must leave the machine.
Ask which of tooling, installation, freight to the US destination, training, commissioning, FAT witness travel and spare parts sit outside the machine price. Dust extraction, magnets or metal detectors, and compressed air for a feeder assist are often extra. No numerical saving versus “the market” is published; comparison is the set of replies to this brief. Knife and screen change kits belong on the same sheet so a cheap offer that omits them is visible. Cooling water is listed only if a cooled bearing or motor is in scope.
Factories should answer with the same units: rotor millimetres, screen aperture millimetres, three-phase supply V/Hz, connected load kW, work envelope and footprint. Ask how metal contamination is handled and how operators reach knives under the manufacturer’s procedure. If a manufacturer cannot relate the largest incoming part and wall thickness to the proposed hopper, that gap stays open rather than being replaced by a catalog photo. Changeover labour for colour or resin switches is a quoted item, not an implied free service.
